In pursuit of its vision ‘to provide co-ordinated bus and rail services which create genuine customer satisfaction and enjoy public confidence’ Translink is committed to attracting customers to use public transport. With the knowledge that the use of public transport is often a substitute for travel by private car, Translink is contributing positively to environmental well-being and conservation of resources.
However, throughout our day-to-day operations we inevitably impact on the environment in a number of ways. Our aim is to understand these impacts at all levels and seek solutions to minimize any potentially harmful effects wherever and whenever possible, through sound principles and best practice. Translink is committed to continual improvement, the prevention of pollution, and will meet, and where appropriate exceed, all relevant legislative, codes of practice, and other requirements.
As part of our commitment to the pursuit of excellence and quality in all that we do we have developed a comprehensive policy which will enable us to establish targets by which our efforts towards sustainable environmental improvement can be measured and monitored on a regular basis. This is supported with a targeted action plan updated annually and available to the public. In this way we aim to protect the health and safety of our own people and our customers whilst contributing to the future well being of the environment.
