Transport in Northern Ireland accounts for approximately 30% of carbon emissions. Millions more people have made the choice to use Translink’s bus and rail networks.
This modal shift from a dependency on private car use is already successfully driving forward Northern Ireland’s Sustainable Development Strategy and meeting Government’s target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 25% below 1990 levels by 2025.
Public transport by its very nature is a sustainable mode of travel; more people choosing buses and trains means a more sustainable future for service in Northern Ireland. Translink is also taking steps to reduce its own carbon footprint in a range of ways.
