Ulster in Bloom - 30th Anniversary

This year is the 30th Anniversary of the Ulster in Bloom Competition.

Ulster in Bloom is sponsored by Translink, coordinated by Northern Ireland Local Government Association (NILGA) and supported by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.

It is open to all villages, towns and cities in Northern Ireland, with judging taking place during July and August

This prestigious competition aims to improve and enhance the townscapes and environment of Northern Ireland through the imaginative use of trees, shrubs, flowers, landscaping and keeping them litter and graffiti free with reduced levels of vandalism. This is a community based initiative with many local groups lending a hand to improve the overall appearance of their local areas. Their efforts make Northern Ireland a more attractive and beautiful place to live, work or visit.

To help commemorate 30 years of the competition, Translink are calling for enthusiasts past and present to scour their attics, rummage through old photo albums and search their potting sheds for photos, video footage and other memorabilia. This material will be used to produce a living archive of the hard work and colourful results of Ulster in Bloom down the years. It is planned to take the exhibition throughout the summer to stations and depots throughout Northern Ireland.

Why not lend a hand this year and get Northern Ireland’s cities, towns and villages alive with colour to make this the best Ulster in Bloom Competition yet!
