Objectives & Core Programmes

OBJECTIVES

These may be grouped at a high level into 4 areas, encompassing all the output requirements of Government policy and consistent with NITHC / Translink’s vision and values.

Safety
To deliver safe operations for passengers, employees and the general public.

Commercial Delivery
To operate commercially, while taking account of the group’s responsibilities in respect of equity and social need.

Increasing Passenger Numbers
To deliver work streams and projects and prioritise investment to attract and retain increasing numbers of users across the bus and rail businesses, consistent with the ‘customer driven’ corporate value.

Value for Money
To deliver and demonstrate value for money in respect of public expenditure and investment in public transport in Northern Ireland and to deliver improved efficiency.

These objectives are quantified in the RTS targets and corporate KPI’s in section 11.

CORE PROGRAMMES

To deliver these objectives, five core programmes of work are in place, detailed in sections 6 – 10. Each programme contributes to the objectives. The programmes are comprised of a schedule of projects and work streams to be signed off by the Executive Group. These to comprise the group’s annual activity programme.

The core programmes are outlined in the following sections in terms of progress to date and future plans.  Major identifiable risks to programme delivery are also recorded. The core programmes are;
