The new trains’ design incorporates many special features that improve accessibility. The Transport Advisory Group, part of Disability Action, provided helpful input at the specification stage. The trains interior comply with all the relevant Rail Vehicles Accessibility Regulations.

On board, there is a specific area designed to accommodate two wheelchair-using customers, and their travelling companions. Belts and safety catches provided may be used to secure the wheelchair user during the journey and there are two special fold-down tables. Tip-up seats accommodate travelling companions.
The area has four handrails fixed to the sidewalls and another one on the exterior of the WC module wall. There are also two ‘call for aid’ devices.
