Spanish Gold for Translink in L'Derry

30 October 2003

Translink customers travelling from Derry on Goldliner services will now have their journeys tinged with a Latin flavour, thanks to the arrival of the latest Spanish built Goldliner Coaches.

As well as travelling in style, Goldliner passengers will also benefit from an enhanced Maiden City Flyer 212 service.  There are now three extra Belfast bound weekday departures leaving at 6am, 6.45am and 8.30pm, and additional Saturday departures at 8.30am and 9.30am.

There are also additional departures leaving Belfast at 8am and 4.45pm during weekdays, and on Saturdays there are two more, leaving at 5pm and 6pm.

Goldliner customers are sure to arrive at their destination feeling relaxed and refreshed; the new Coaches carry up to 53 passengers in climate controlled comfort, with fully reclining seats, each fitted with a seatbelt.

“We now have six of these latest specification vehicles in operation, which along with the additional services is great news for passengers and drivers alike,” explained Tony McDaid Translink’s Derry District Manager.

“The Coaches offer passengers superior levels of comfort with features like kneeling front suspension for ease of access, and large easy to read destination screens. Adjustable steering columns, power steering, automatic transmission and seats fitted with mechanical suspension mean drivers are well catered for too!”

Tony explained that the buses are also more environmentally friendly, meeting the latest Euro 3 emissions legislation, and will use low sulphur diesel.

“The new vehicles are the latest to be delivered as part of the £23.5 million investment in the Translink fleet announced earlier this year. Their arrival clearly illustrates our commitment to delivering a quality service accessible to everyone in Northern Ireland.” He concluded.
