Translink Pess Release: Purchase of New Trains Well on Track - Translink

Translink recently announced that Spanish Company CAF was awarded the £80million contract for the manufacture and supply of 23 new trains for the Northern Ireland rail network.
Ciaran Rogan Translink’s Head of Marketing explained, “Clearly this contract represents a major investment and it is imperative that this public money is spent as efficiently and effectively as possible. We are currently at a stage in the procurement of these new trains of deciding upon the major design issues of interior and exterior colour schemes.”
He continued, “As part of our program of consultation, Translink staff will be at the following locations, with four sets of design boards on display which have been received from our design consultants Lawrence and Pierce;
- Forestside Shopping Centre on 14th May 2002.
- Great Victoria Street Station on 15th, 16th and 17th May 2002.
- Central Station on 20th and 21st May 2002.
“We would very much welcome the views and opinions from users and other interested parties with regard to this important element of the process”.
The information gathered from this consultation exercise will be used to influence the final image of the train interior and exterior.
